Breast Reduction

Overview

Let's tell you about breast reduction surgery or reduction mammoplasty. It's a major surgery that helps to remove extra fat, tissue, or skin from the breasts and relieves you from disoriented and enlarged boobs and neck or backache. Not only this, men can get relief from gynecomastia and enlarged breasts.

Am I a suitable candidate for this operation?

We will make an appointment with our Ph.D. surgeons before the surgery to examine you. Our experts have standardized the criteria before selecting the candidate for the procedure:

  • Individuals (male/female) have enlarged breasts and suffer from neck and backache.
  • One should be healthy without any life-threatening diseases that will impede healing.
  • Smokers should be excluded from the procedures.
  • It would be best if you weren't pregnant or a breastfeeding mother.
Breast Reduction Procedure

Breast Reduction Procedure is done in three stages:

Perioperative

The medical consultant will schedule a consultation with our Ph.D. surgeon for you:

  • He will guide you through the procedure and clear all your queries.
  • Our surgeon will customize the treatment that will suit your body, giving you 100% results.
  • He will proceed with the treatment after considering you through the surgery criteria.

You will have a detailed discussion with your surgeon about removing the extra layer of fat from the breast to give you the acquired results. The surgeons will take pictures and measure your breast size to compare the results. You will go through the mammography and breast examination before the procedure. If you are taking medications, do let your surgeon know to advise whether it is safe to continue using them after the surgery or if you should stop them for a while.

Intraoperative

The surgery may take 2-3 hours. You will be under general anesthesia to avoid uneasiness and pain during the surgery.

There are different methods of breast reduction, and as said before, the surgeons will choose whichever suits you the most.

Following are the different forms of surgery:

  • Liposuction: if you require a slight fat removal, the surgeons will use this form. During this procedure, small incisions are placed on the targeted area of the breasts, and tubes are inserted. The tube is connected to the vacuum that tends to suck small chunks of fat and fluid from the target area.
  • Inverted T or "anchor": if you require a large section of fat removed from your breasts, your surgeon will use this technique. Its name anchor is given due to the incision made on the breasts. An anchor shape around and below the breast is removed from the breasts, and then the rest is sutured back in place. It gives the breast a lift and a reduction with a perfect shape.
  • Vertical or "Lollipop": the surgeons will cut around the areola and go down beneath the breasts; they will remove the excess fat and tissue from the target, tighten the skin from there, reshape them and give them a lift.
Postoperative

Immediately after the surgery, the surgeon will cover your breasts with gauze. Next, the drain pipes are attached to your arms to remove excess fluid or blood. Then, the surgeons will prescribe antibiotics and painkillers to relieve the pain.

After a few weeks, your breasts may feel tender, bruised, swollen, and sensitive. You have to follow the appointments for the removal of sutures. You will also need to limit the physical activity for some time till you heal completely. You will be asked to wear surgical bras to support your breasts.

Result:

After the procedure is completed, you will feel light and lifted well-shaped breasts. Your posture will improve along with the neck or backache.
