Nasial Procedure

Rhinoplasty

Overview

Rhinoplasty is commonly known as nose job or nose reshaping. It is a surgery done to improve the shape and proportion of the nose, and it is also done to correct breathing problems[1]. It usually requires a plastic surgeon to operate over the cartilages and bones of your nose. Rhinoplasty can give your face a brand new look and improve facial harmony.

Am I a suitable candidate for this operation?

Before you can get a rhinoplasty done, your aesthetic surgeon will ensure that you fulfill some criteria needed to qualify for the procedure. These include;

  • You do not have a medical condition that can affect the outcome of the surgery.
  • Your face must be fully grown.

You can get a rhinoplasty done if you have one of the following;

  • Nose size that is not in proportion to your face.
  • Humps and depressions on the nose bridge.
  • Bulbous, enlarged nose tip.
  • Hooked nose tip.
  • Large nostrils.
  • Asymmetrical nose.
  • Breathing troubles.
Rhinoplasty procedure

What this procedure Can Give You:

The symmetry and size of the nose are crucial to facial beauty. So if you want to improve your face, rhinoplasty can give you what you desire.

Rhinoplasty can give you all of these, including;

  • Give your nose the right size.
  • Improve your facial balance.
  • Improve the width of your nose and the position of your nostrils.
  • Remove humps and depression at the bridge of the nose.
  • Treat wide, upturned nostrils.
  • Enhance your nasal symmetry.
The three stages of the procedure:
Perioperative

It is the preparatory stage before the procedure. At HospitalXp, before you can have a rhinoplasty, our plastic surgeons will ask you questions about your fears, goals, and desires for the surgery. Our surgeons will also ensure that you are healthy enough to have the procedure. They will examine your nose and body, and you will also require some tests to confirm your health status. They may change some of your medications to improve the procedure's outcome. Our surgeons will also require you to stop smoking.

Intraoperative

The procedure is done either under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. The choice depends on your health status and the decision of your surgeon.

After our aesthetic surgeons put you to sleep, an incision is made inside your nose(closed incision)or on your nose (open incision). Closed incisions hide the cut inside your nose[2]. Through the incisions made, our proficient surgeons can modify the structure of your nose to achieve your beauty goals.

The size of your nose could be reduced by reshaping or removing cartilage or bone from your nose. In addition, your nasal septum could be adjusted to treat breathing problems. The incisions are closed after the procedure.

Postoperative

It is the recovery stage. Immediately after the procedure, your nose will be packed with gauze to help with bleeding, and a splint will be placed on your nose to protect and support your nose.

Our surgeons may also advise you to;

  • Keep your head elevated for at least a day.
  • Avoid vigorous exercises.
  • Avoid wearing sunglasses that sit on the nose for a few weeks.

Your nose should start to feel better after a few weeks. It may take some months for your nose to recover completely, but when it does, you can enjoy your new nose with no worries for a long time.
